Jeremy Bates gets it! Dan Leberfeld
When Jeremy Bates said this, his approval rating in my mind went up.
He was asked at midseason why the Josh McCown was playing over the Jets two, young, raw quarterbacks.
“This is professional football. This isn’t Triple-A.” – Jets QB coach Jeremy Bates.
Bingo!
Great quote!
I flat-out can’t stand teams playing quarterbacks before they are ready. The NFL is a QB-driven league, and it’s hard to win with a signal-caller who doesn’t know what he’s doing on the NFL level (which is much tougher than college). It’s also unwatchable.
Bates clearly feels the same way.
This isn’t the former NFL Europe.
It’s the NFL.
The NFL shouldn’t be used as a developmental league (something the NFL desperately needs).
I love this Bates’ quote.
And I love the Jets’ promotion of Bates to offensive coordinator (which was announced by Adam Schefter); Bates has a top-shelf offensive mind.
Smart cat.
