Jet to provide turf field for kids with special needs

*In partnership with United Way of Northern New Jersey, the New York Jets, NRG and NFL Foundation have contributed $280,000 to install the 24,000-square-foot field that will be used by children of all ages with special needs. The field will allow children who visit LifeTown’s center, in Livingston, to experience the excitement and camaraderie of team sports activities.

LifeTown is a 53,000-square-foot center that is redefining the landscape for individuals with special needs. Its recreational, therapeutic and educational facilities — the first of its kind in the region — cater to the needs of children, teens and adults. LifeTown’s focal point is “Life Village,” a simulated Main Street that prepares participants with special needs for independent living. Offering real-world scenarios in a controlled and safe environment, Life Village empowers each person to reach his or her full potential.
