Jets Confidential scouting report on Coples Dan Leberfeld

Quinton Coples – 6-5 ¾, 284 – 4.71 – North Carolina

Outstanding size-speed ratio . . . perhaps the most physically gifted defensive lineman in the draft . . . big upside . . . could end up as a 3-4 or a 4-3 end – has the size and speed to do either . . . has improved a lot as a run defender over his career at UNC . . . does a nice job of getting his long arms up to disrupt QB’s vision . . . huge hands . . . inconsistent motor . . . long strider, so that hurts his quickness off the edge . . . needs the right defensive line coach and defensive coordinator to keep him motivated because he runs hot and cold . . . top half of the first round.
