Eric Allen, an on-air reporter for newyorkjets.com, offered this assessment of the team’s quarterback and passing offense . . .
“Geno Smith, who owns a 10-18 record as an NFL starter, has not produced consistent results and has often been turnover-prone, like his predecessor, Mark Sanchez. In a passing league, the Jets finished 31st in passing when Smith was a rookie, and they are now 32nd entering this week’s final game against the Dolphins. Despite adding Eric Decker in free agency and Percy Harvin via trade, the Jets continue having difficulty putting points on the board and ranked 29th in scoring heading into the season finale.”
Like a lot of young NFL quarterbacks, Smith was somewhat inconsistent his first two seasons in the league.
It remains to be seen if he gets a third season as the team’s starter.
