There has been a lot of speculation about Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams possibly being traded to the New York Jets.
Adams and Jets QB Aaron Rodgers are close from their time playing together in Green Bay, and have talked about the desire to play together again in the future.
NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky said Tuesday on ESPN that Adams to the Jets is a “done deal.”
Adams’ agents shot down this report and others speculating that the receiver is going to be traded to the Jets, issuing the following statement to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
“This is baseless, unfounded speculation and Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there has been absolutely no trade talk – period.”
Aside from the Raiders wanting to keep Adams because he and defensive end Maxx Crosby are their best players, there is another reason not being talked about enough on why the receiver isn’t going anywhere.
This off-season, the Raiders hired Luke Getsy as their offensive coordinator, somebody Adams is close with from their time in Green Bay.
When Adams entered the league as a second-round pick of Green Bay in 2014, Getsy was an offensive assistant, and two years later was promoted to receivers coach, and worked as Adams’ position coach for two years (2016-17).
After one year as offensive coordinator at Mississippi State, Getsy game back to the Packers staff, where he again worked alongside Adams for three more years, the last two as passing game coordinator in 2020-21.
So one of many reasons Adams wouldn’t be looking to leave the desert right now is he essentially got the offensive coordinator he wanted, so why would he bail on the Raiders now?
