The timing of Holmes’ comments a little strange Dan Leberfeld

Yesterday, Santonio Holmes told the press that Mark Sanchez was “rattled” when he heard about the Jets’ trade for Tim Tebow.

Why bring that up five days before the Jets’ opener?

That anecdote would have been better placed in the off-season, in the spring, closer to the trade.

At this point, this kind of angle should be water under the bridge at One Jets Drive – a player should probably just bite his tongue.

Hey, for the media, it’s great, so I’m not complaining.

But for the Jets, the timing of this quote isn’t helpful.
