Florham Park – There was a lot of talk before training camp that the Jets lacked a speedster at running back.
Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and Zac Stacy are considered good runners between the tackles.
But I think the Jets do have a speed back, and his name is Daryl Richardson. He’s quietly having a solid training camp.
The Abilene Christian-product, who was on the Jets’ practice squad last year, after a stint in St. Louis, is a tailback with no shortage of speed.
Richardson, who runs 4.4, and has very quick feet, is very good at making people miss in space.
And he’s a threat to hit a home run anytime he touches the ball. He’s also a good receiver out of the backfield.
Like a lot of smaller backs, he needs work on his blocking, but he definitely could provide the Jets with a speed back if he makes the final roster.
